Information You Submit
When you enter a name, phone number, or address in a search form, the third-party provider supplying the result receives that submission. Our own servers do not keep a copy of those searches. If you contact us, we can see the contents of your message and use them to answer you.
Technical Data Collected Automatically
Our hosting provider may record routine server details such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and timestamps. We review that information in aggregate to maintain the site and understand which pages readers use. Cookies or similar technologies may support basic analytics and, where relevant, advertising measurement.
How We Use the Limited Data
We use it to operate the website, diagnose faults, count visits, and improve the pages. We do not sell visitor lists or create profiles of individual users.
Links Beyond This Site
Oroville Residents Directory links to Butte County and California records portals, library collections, archives, and outside search services. Once you follow one of those links, the other provider's privacy policy governs what you submit there. Sponsored results are also supplied by a third-party company.
Who May Receive Technical Information
Hosting and technical-support providers may process server logs for us. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. We disclose information when valid legal process requires it, and otherwise do not disclose it.
Security and Retention
The site uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for as long as the operational purposes above require. We provide no user accounts, so this site does not hold your password or a personal profile that could be exposed.
Children and Teen Users
Oroville Residents Directory is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor sent us information, contact us so we can delete it.
Your California Privacy and Records Rights
Depending on the law that applies, you may have the right to ask a business for access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information it maintains, and to opt out of sale or sharing. The California Consumer Privacy Act/CPRA, Civil Code §§1798.100 et seq., provides rights for covered data subject to its statutory exceptions.
Because we retain very little, a request generally means checking our contact mailbox and server logs and deleting what we find. Use the Contact page to make that request. Records held by California state, Butte County, or Oroville offices are outside our control. Requests for those public records, including access under the California Public Records Act (CPRA), Government Code §§7920.000-7931.000, belong with the custodian that created or maintains the record.
Changes to This Policy
We will post any revision on this page. Continuing to use the site after a revision is posted indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
